How to Read a Pet Food Label: A Retailer’s Quick Guide
New nutrition partnerships will support shelter dogs and cats across Selangor, Penang, and Johor through the end of the year, with East Malaysia next on the roadmap.
Petsome Group has signed on to support twelve animal shelters across Peninsular Malaysia with a steady supply of pet nutrition products, part of a new quarter-four programme aimed at easing the cost of care for shelters ahead of the busiest adoption season of the year.
The programme, which begins this month, will see Dibaq, Wanpy, and Catsome product lines distributed monthly to partner shelters in Selangor, Penang, and Johor. Shelters were selected based on adoption volume and existing relationships built through Petsome's retail network in each state.
Why it matters for retailers
For the retail partners carrying Petsome brands, the partnership is designed to translate into visible, local goodwill rather than a head-office press release. Participating stores will host in-store adoption weekends, with shelters bringing animals directly to retail locations already stocking the supported product lines.
"Retailers keep telling us the same thing: shoppers want to see where their ringgit actually goes. This programme gives every store on the list a real, local answer to that."
Petsome Group Operations
Petsome plans to publish adoption numbers and total product donated at the end of each quarter, starting with a year-end summary in December.
What's next
The twelve-shelter pilot runs through December 2026. Petsome has said it intends to expand into Sabah and Sarawak in the first half of 2027, pending outcomes from this round and continued retailer participation.
